*Backstamped Poland China R S Made in (German) Poland. According to antiques site Kovels, RS Poland (German) is a mark used by the Reinhold Schlegelmilch factory at Tillowitz from about 1946 to 1956. After 1956, the factory made porcelain marked PT Poland. This is one of many of the RS marks used. Other sources say this mark was earlier, used from 1918-1921.
*RS porcelain is thin, lightweight and translucent. Translucent means that light will pass through it. A simple test is to hold an object up to a bright light or window. Now place your open fingers behind the object. Your fingers should cast a dark shadow through the object.
